When a shopper makes a purchase from your site, whichever payment processor you're using to manage these purchases will take a percentage of the transaction as a fee. These fees are laid out below:
- Stripe:: 2.9% of the total purchase plus 30¢ of each transaction.
- Square:: 2.9% of the total purchase plus 30¢ of each transaction.
- Paypal:: 2.9% of the total purchase plus 30¢ of each transaction.
- Authorize:: Fees vary based on the kind of account you have with them. The fee per transaction is lower in some cases, but authorize.net also charges monthly fees that none of the other providers charge.
Let's look at some examples using Stripe as the payment processor.
If a shopper purchased three of your products and their total purchase came to $90, then the transaction fee paid to Stripe would be $2.91. That’s 2.9% of the transaction ($2.61) plus 30¢.
If a shopper purchased a single product for $12.95, then the transaction fee paid to Stripe would be 68¢. That’s 2.9% of the transaction (38¢) plus 30¢.
The above fees apply specifically to customers of our Business service.
If you're not a Business customer, but instead use the Free, Starter, or Pro versions of our service, then all the fees remain exactly the same except we also charge an additional 3% fee for each transaction.
In this scenario, if a shopper purchased three of your products and their total purchase came out to $90, then the fee paid to Stripe would be $2.91 (2.9% of the transaction plus 30¢) and the fee paid to us would be $2.70 (3% of the transaction).
Continuing along these lines, if a shopper purchased a single product and their purchase came out to $12.95, then the transaction fee paid to Stripe would be 68¢ (2.9% of the transaction plus 30¢) and the transaction fee paid to us would be 39 cents (3% of the transaction).
As noted above, if you upgrade to our Business Plan (or already have it) then the 3% transaction fee is waived and you only pay the fees charged by the processor.
